La dott.ssa Barbara Molesini è coinvolta principalmente in tre ambiti di ricerca:
 1- Trasformazione genetica di piante di interesse agrario per:
  • Studiare la funzione di geni coinvolti nello sviluppo dei frutti carnosi e secchi
  • Conferire resistenza a virus in piante legnose mediante RNA silencing
 2- Studio di peptidi del frutto di pomodoro con potenziale attività nutraceutica
 3- Studio delle basi molecolari e funzionali della simbiosi tra batteri N-fissatori e piante leguminose

The research activity of Dr. Barbara Molesini is focused on 3 main fields:
1- Crop genetic transformation aimed at:
  • Studying the role of genes putatively involved in fruit development 
  • Conferring viral resistance to woody plants 
2- Study of the potential therapeutic effects of natural compounds (purified from tomato fruits).
3- Study of the symbiotic interaction between legume and N-fixing bacteria; host early responses to rhizobial infection.
