Interuniversity Master's degree in Science and Technology of Bio and Nanomaterials
Science and Technology of Bio and Nanomaterials is a new 2-year postgraduate degree starting from 2013/14 at Ca' Foscari in collaboration with the University of Verona. We are the first in Italy to offer a programme in these two cutting edge fields in modern science.
 
The aim of the course is to produce graduates with a solid, multidisciplinary background in physics, chemistry and biology and the expertise to work in positions of great responsibility in managing complex processes such as the design, synthesis and characterisation of materials, including biological substances. The curriculum covers fundamental theory as well as laboratory work on preparing and characterising nano and bio materials. In particular, students will deeped their knowledge of the chemical-physical characteristics, properties, preparation methods and applications of nanostructured materials.
 
The course brings together Ca' Foscari University's expertise in nanoscience with the University of Verona's strength in biological sciences. Many of the workshops will be held at the Venetian Science and Technology Park (VEGA), is an ideal setting for this cross-fertilisation of ideas and experiences.

Master's degree in Agri-Food Biotechnology
The Master Degree in Agri-Food Biotechnology offers a high level professional preparation, which can be employed in research activity and development of processes, products and services in the agri-food production chain.
Graduates will be able to solve and manage problems related to agri-food biotechnologies in a sustainable way, including energy and environmental aspects, as well as to deal with the planning and fulfillment of basic research, applied research and technological transfer projects in the industry.
The course offers the possibility to deepen a wide range of scientific disciplines that include Biochemistry and
Molecular Biology, Plant physiology and nutrition, Plant pathology, Plant genetics, Food science also applied to health, Food and Environmental Microbiology, Industrial processes.
In addition to traditional teaching, the Master Degree includes hands-on teaching methods and many credits of laboratory and experimental internship, thanks to which the student will acquire knowledge and skills essential for the development of a project, by defining goals, strategies for implementation and feasibility, as well as experimental checks.

Master's degree in Molecular and Medical Biotechnology
Molecular and medical biotechnology is a field with enormous potential for the development of new solutions for human health. Through the understanding of the molecular and cellular mechanisms of pathologies, the biotechnological method allows to contribute to the development of drugs, vaccines, therapies and diagnostic tests.
The course trains expert biotechnologists able to conduct analysis, research and development activities, with particular reference to the biomedical sector, through experimental and computational approaches. These skills are achieved through the study of disciplines in the fields of molecular and cell biology, genomics and diagnostics, pathology and pharmacology, and computational biology. The course includes an integrated laboratory course based on a current topic of biomedical research, providing adequate technical preparation and highlighting a connection between laboratory research and its impact on human health. The course includes a single curriculum, but the flexibility of the teaching organization offers the possibility to define a personalized study plan.
The course is delivered in English, allowing you to acquire a degree that can be spent both in Italy and abroad, as well as welcoming students of various nationalities, allowing to integrate knowledge and experience of various cultural areas.
 
The course allows entry into the occupational world, both at the level of private companies and public bodies. The graduate can also carry out independent professional consultancy and planning activities. Graduates will find employment opportunities in professional fields such as research and technological development in the biotechnology, pharmaceutical and diagnostic sectors; they will also have acquired the scientific basis for carrying out regulatory, management and biotechnological business creation activities; similarly, they will have acquired scientific skills useful for the performance of managerial and advisory functions in the aforementioned areas; they will be able to carry out tasks relating to information and technical-scientific communication.
 
Basic knowledge and skills in biology, chemistry, mathematics and physics are required as minimum requirements. It is also necessary to have the knowledge of the English language at a level appropriate to the understanding of the teachings (B1 or higher).
