Plant-soil interaction lab
The interest of the laboratory is mainly focused on the physiology, biochemistry and molecular biology of plant mineral nutrition paying also attention to woody species like grapevine. Several issues related to the soil-rhizosphere-root system are approached with emphases on nutrient availability and the action of exogenous factors (e.g. fraction of soil organic matter and biostimulants) on the mechanism of nutrient acquisition and uptake. The physiological responses to the nutritional stresses and fluctuation of nutrient availability are also matter of concern. Furthermore, particular attention is paid to the study of molecular and biochemical mechanism operating at the level of plant plasma membrane carrying out and regulating the uptake. The laboratory performs also studies on soil fertility and the assessment of plant nutrient requirement and is active in the field of development of innovative sustainable fertilizers.

Studio delle interazioni suolo-pianta Vengono svolte ricerche sulla fisiologia, biochimica e biologia molecolare della nutrizione minerale delle piante sia erbacee che arboree con particolare riferimento, per queste ultime, alla vite. Le problematiche affrontate sono quelle relative al sistema suolo-rizosfera-radice in relazione alla disponibilità di nutrienti ed all' azione di fattori esogeni (es. frazioni della sostanza organica umificata, e biostimolanti) sui meccanismi di assorbimento ionico. Si studiano inoltre le risposte fisiologiche a situazioni di fluttuazioni e stress nutrizionali anche per individuare eventuali meccanismi di adattamento e modificazioni metaboliche. Particolare attenzione è rivolta allo studio dei meccanismi biochimici e molecolari al plasmalemma radicale che attuano e regolano la nutrizione delle piante determinandone le capacità di approvvigionamento. Il laboratorio porta avanti anche studi sulla dotazione nutrizionale dei terreni e i fabbisogni delle colture ed è attivo nel campo dello sviluppo di fertilizzanti innovativi nell’ottica di una agricoltura sostenibile.
