Short bio

Dr. Francesca Munari has extensive expertise in investigating proteins’ structure, activity, and interactions through biochemical and biophysical methods. After completing her PhD in Molecular Science at the University of Padova in 2009, she held postdoctoral positions at the Max Planck Institute for Biophysical Chemistry and the German Center for Neurodegenerative Diseases (Göttingen, Germany) until 2014. In 2019, after five years of research at the University of Verona, she transitioned into her current role as Assistant Professor.

Research

Her current research explores how key proteins recognize each other within the neurodegenerative pathways of Alzheimer's disease by using advanced biophysical and biochemical methods on purified recombinant proteins and cellular models. This will provide structural insights for the design of molecules able to interrupt harmful protein-protein interactions.
