Learning outcomes

OBJECTIVES
The course structure and function of genomes aims to provide the student with knowledge about the structure of eukaryotic and prokaryotic genomes, and methods of global analysis of genomes and transcriptomes. It also provides information about the replication and evolution of genomes, with particular emphasis on mecchanisms that regulate this activity.

CONTENTS
The genome projects: organization and goals of the Human Genome Project, plants and animals genomes. Mapping, sequencing and assembly of genomes. Interpretation of genomic sequences and global analysis of gene expression. Anatomy of eukaryotic and prokaryotic genomes. Operation of genomes and regulation of their activities. Replication and evolution of genomes. molecular phylogenesis
