Bachelor's degree in Biotechnology
The course offers a basic preparation in the field of biotechnology in both theoretical and experimental aspects. The graduate will be able to critically perform experimental biotechnological procedures, learning the correct use of the appropriate instruments, analyzing and integrating the information obtained.
These competences will be achieved through the study of basic scientific subjects including mathematics, physics, chemistry and biology, along with subjects able to provide molecular and cellular knowledge of biological systems as well as an adequate technological culture and skills for biological data management by informatics tools.
The training also includes specific courses in the agri-food, environmental-industrial-bioresources, and molecular-medical sectors. In support of traditional teaching, the course includes intense laboratory activity in all the years of the course and a final internship to be held at a university laboratory or accredited company.
The course aims to train competent professionals in the biotechnological and related fields (biological, biochemical, microbiological).
The employment opportunities mainly concern the chemical and chemical-pharmaceutical industry, public and private research laboratories in the health, agri-food and environmental sectors and technology transfer and services companies.
The degree course in Biotechnology is scheduled access with admission test.
For the academic year 2018/19 the available places are 120.
The admission test includes questions in Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Biology.
In the event that a student is admitted to the course having obtained an overall score of less than 6 in the two tests of Mathematics and Physics and overall less than 4 in the two tests of Chemistry and Biology, additional learning requirements (OFA) must be completed within the first year of the course.

Bachelor's degree in Viticultural and Oenological Science and Technology

The course is held in an ancient Villa (XVI century) in the hearth of Valpolicella that is one of the top wine region in Italy. The teaching staff is composed by researchers whose activities are devoted – in part or completely - to the fields of viticulture and oenology. The degree course in Viticultural and Oenological Science and Technology is scheduled access with admission test. The aim of the course is to give the student competencies useful for the employment not only in technical or commercial position in the field of viticulture and oenology but also in wineries, laboratories and trade associations.

The course offers a preparation in basic scientific subjects including mathematics, statistics, physics, chemistry and biology along with subjects able to provide knowledge concerning the analysis of the processes underlying wine industry such as agricultural chemistry, plant protection, genetics, microbiology and economy. The training also includes professional courses covering viticulture, oenology, marketing and wine process engineering. The course enables the graduate to obtain the European title of “oenologist” and to have access to several master degree courses.
