The university’s third mission - social involvement and services for the community
The Department of Biotechnology, in line with ANVUR (National Agency for the Evaluation of the University System and Research), aspires to promote and support a third mission which encourages the direct application, development and use of knowledge to contribute to the social, cultural and economic development of society.

The Department of Biotechnology’s pursues the third mission through the following initiatives:
- Promotion and presentation of institutional activities: Research Day, Open Day, visits and internships for secondary school students and advertising events in collaboration with student representatives.
- Contact with social parties: Confindustria, trade associations, professional associations, etc.
- Conventions and agreements with national and international academic institutes (e.g. specialised networks, museums and foundations, universities and research organisations).
- Organising conferences, congresses and symposia.
