Curriculum

Prof. Daniela Cecconi is Associate Professor for the scientific-disciplinary sector Analytical Chemistry and she has a consolidated experience in Proteomic analyses. Her research activities mainly involve electrophoretic and chromatographic approaches, mass spectrometry and bioinformatic analysis applied to proteomics.
The research group directed by Prof. Cecconi has a number of ongoing collaborations with national and international scientists.
In particular, her research studies are focused on:
  • development of analytical methodologies for proteomic analysis
  • identification of protein biomarkers and characterization of altered molecular mechanisms in different human pathologies (mainly cancer, but not only)
  • characterization of the molecular mechanisms of action of new antitumor agents
  • proteomic characterization of matrices, such as agri-food sample and/or microorganisms

Chimica Analitica - Proteomica Questa area di ricerca prevede l’utilizzo delle tecniche della Proteomica per lo studio su grande scala delle proteine (in particolare delle loro regolazioni nel livello di espressione). L’analisi proteomica, la nuova frontiera della ricerca biologica e medica, è fondata essenzialmente sulle metodologie proprie della “chimica analitica”. Lo studio del proteoma, infatti, si basa sulla separazione e sulla successiva analisi qualitativa (identificazione) e quantitativa di popolazioni di analiti di natura proteica, ponendo al centro la metodologia di più rilevante impatto sulla moderna chimica analitica: la spettrometria di massa. In particolare nel laboratorio di Proteomica si effettuano purificazioni e prefrazionamento di estratti proteici (da campioni di origine umana, animale, vegetale e microbiologica), cromatografie, elettroforesi 2D, analisi delle immagini delle mappe 2D, western blot 2D, identificazioni di proteine tramite spettrometria di massa.
