The research activities, carried out in collaboration with the Cranfield Water Science Institute, involved-in the first year-a phase of analysis of the organisation of water and wastewater utilities and tariff systems in the different European countries; an elaboration of possible business models for Smart Plant that take into account the different characteristics of country context. During the 2018 the project discussed with the companies of water services both public and private the actual implementation of the model and the valorization of the waste as under product of the purification plant. In 2019 a community engagement activity is planned in order to recognize a social value to the choices of the water utilities.
