Learning outcomes

The course aims to provide the scientific knowledge on the molecular components of the cell , the biochemical processes related to the metabolism , the kinetics and regulation of enzymes. The purpose of the course is therefore to provide students with the basis for the understanding of the molecular mechanisms that allow to convert available energy sources in the environment to chemical energy to be used for cell metabolism.

Syllabus

The chemical elements of life and cellular organization
The macromolecules
Proteins : three-dimensional structure and function
The properties of enzymes and enzyme kinetics
Molecular mechanisms of enzymes
