Molecular and medical biotechnology is a field with enormous potential for the development of new solutions for human health. Through the understanding of the molecular and cellular mechanisms of pathologies, the biotechnological method allows to contribute to the development of drugs, vaccines, therapies and diagnostic tests.
The course trains expert biotechnologists able to conduct analysis, research and development activities, with particular reference to the biomedical sector, through experimental and computational approaches. These skills are achieved through the study of disciplines in the fields of molecular and cell biology, genomics and diagnostics, pathology and pharmacology, and computational biology. The course includes an integrated laboratory course based on a current topic of biomedical research, providing adequate technical preparation and highlighting a connection between laboratory research and its impact on human health. The course includes a single curriculum, but the flexibility of the teaching organization offers the possibility to define a personalized study plan.
The course is delivered in English, allowing you to acquire a degree that can be spent both in Italy and abroad, as well as welcoming students of various nationalities, allowing to integrate knowledge and experience of various cultural areas.
The course allows entry into the occupational world, both at the level of private companies and public bodies. The graduate can also carry out independent professional consultancy and planning activities. Graduates will find employment opportunities in professional fields such as research and technological development in the biotechnology, pharmaceutical and diagnostic sectors; they will also have acquired the scientific basis for carrying out regulatory, management and biotechnological business creation activities; similarly, they will have acquired scientific skills useful for the performance of managerial and advisory functions in the aforementioned areas; they will be able to carry out tasks relating to information and technical-scientific communication.
Basic knowledge and skills in biology, chemistry, mathematics and physics are required as minimum requirements. It is also necessary to have the knowledge of the English language at a level appropriate to the understanding of the teachings (B1 or higher).
